Sustainability

Being sustainable and taking care of our planet, was one of the most important things for me when I started The Pretty Pony Club. The fashion industry is responsible for 92 million tonnes of textile waste annually and by 2030, it is expected to be 134 million tonnes per year if things don't change.

Fast fashion produces massive volumes of cheap clothing, leading to overconsumption and rapid disposal. These items usually have short life spans, so are only used a few times before being thrown out and because they are so cheap, we impulse buy things we might not actually even like that much.

Another enormous issue is that we have a poor recycling infrastructure, so although many clothes are recyclable, the systems for collecting and reprocessing them are still very limited. And lastly and often overlooked, is the amount of pre-consumer waste. Before you even receive your goods, there is often so much waste during the manufacturing- offcuts, packing to be sent on to other manufacturing specialists or dye houses, off cuts, deadstock and unsold stock.

At The Pretty Pony Club we want to do better, which is why we have chosen to only make exactly what is ordered by you. There is no stock filling warehouses and hoping to be sold. When you go through the checkout and pay for your item, we start making it. This is why it may take a few extra days to arrive but it means that there is no stock waste and no unnecessary extra packaging.

Everything possible is either recycled material or natural fibres that can break down back into the earth once it has reached the end of it's life cycle and we would also really encourage that once you have finished with your product, you pass it on, recycle it or send it back to us to recycle and reward you with a 10% off gift card.

We also actively encourage your feedback and opinion. If you have a great idea for how we can improve further, than please send it to us.

With Love,
